For the tourist attraction and beautification of building, a fountain system is constructed at a cost of DH 800 million (US$217 million). Illuminated by 6,600 lights and 50 colored projectors, it is 270 m (900 ft.) long and shoots water 150 m (500 ft.) into the air, accompanied by a range of classical to contemporary Arabic and other music. It is the world's second largest choreographed fountain. Observation deck and Burj Khalifa amusement park is also attraction for the visitors. There are two observation decks one on the 124 floor while other on 148 floor.
The purpose of building the Burj Khalifa is to divert the oil based economy of United Arab Emirates to tourism based economy. Keeping this concept in view Burj have special attractions for the tourists. Beside the tourist purpose the Burj Khalifa have huge capacity of homes which are nine thousand in numbers. Abu Dhabi and Federal government of UAE lent tens of billions of dollars for the project. Burj Khalifa cost around 1.5 Billion Dollars. A work force of 12000 international labor took part in its construction every day.
Speaking of the acrophobia inducing elevator, it travels at speeds roughly 40 miles per hour (65 kilometers per hour) and reaches the observation deck in about 2 minutes. The empty weight of Burj Khalifa is 500 thousand tons.
