Transportation mode on the island is Bus, Boat and plan. The most common transportation on the island is travel by car. You can hire car on rent if you are on visit of this wonderful island. The buses are most inexpensive mode of traveling on the island. A car on the rent is available as low as 90 dollars a day. To reach the other small attach island and some beautiful place one have to use the boats. The catamaran or ferry is available which move around the islands throughout the day. Helicopters and chartered plan like archipel are available on the island and it operates throughout the day. It goes to all 46 islands of Tahiti.
Tourism Activities on Tahiti Island:
You can do many many activities on the island. All nautical activities: surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling (most resorts will provide you with the equipment for free), canyoning, stingray and shark feedings, water sports, deep sea fishing, kite surfing...you name it. You also have the possibility of hiking, 4WD safari, golf. Deep sea fishing has been curtailed on Tahiti and is difficult to find. Diving: get a reputable dive company, our experience was that those with the far out websites were a bit low on ethics and safety, not well prepared, and did not go far past the marina.
Crime Rate on Tahiti Island:
The crime rate on the island is very low. Usually very small crimes like purse snatching reported some time. Two hospitals are very well equipped and provide the services 24/7. The French army and police have control of the island and is well secured. Other than Morey eels all the creatures of the sea is non offensive including sharks and stingrays.
